The University of Papua New Guinea Clean Generation kick started the one week Orientation Program for the First year students on the 31st of January, at the Main Lecture Theatre.
Clean Generation hosts an Orientation program for the first year students at the beginning of every year.
The Voice Inc. (TVI) as the Head Organization runs Clean Generation Movement and that through its partnership with the university, Clean Gen is able to be part of the orientation program.
The program took place in the night. The Executive Director, Maliwai Sassingian and the Communications Manager, Dagia Aka of TVI were the two mains guests’ speakers.
The Program started off when the master of ceremony introduced the leaders of the Clean Generation, the work of The Voice Inc. as well as the Organizations’ different offerings and how the students could be part of the Clean Gen Movement.
The Clean Gen team and staff delivered a powerful and captivating presentation that got the students up and moving, laughing, and thinking deeply about their goals.
An interview was conducted with one of the Clean Gen Leader, Mr Nabieu Lansana.
He says the program started off when the leaders of Clean Gen were introduced followed by an introduction as to what Clean Gen is all about and that the program ended with video that shows and demonstrates one of the projects that Clean Gen members carried out at Goroka about the Clean Gen Innovation Grants.
Mr Lansana says that the video was played basically to showcase what the members are capable of doing through the movement.
The Students were taken on a journey from when a few young people who recognized the need for change in their communities led The Voice Inc. from its humble beginning as a student-led organization on the campus to its eventual establishment.
Through the use of the video featuring one of the innovative grant recipient, Andrea Dapue, and her change initiative, the team was able to demonstrate to the students the results on TVI’s ongoing support of citizens.
