UPNG students Visit Pom Gen

Twenty three (23) students from the University of Papua New Guinea Clean Generation voluntarily visited the Ward 3B Children’s and Maternal wards of Port Moresby General Hospital giving donations to mothers and babies.

This visit took place in semester one of UPNG’s academic years where the students decided to do a donation drive to the Children’s and Maternal Wards of Pom Gen.

An interview with a Clean Gen Member, Mr Nabieu Lansana was conducted. Mr Lansana says that arrangements were made and that over the course of a month, the team put out boxes with in the University residential halls and the public to donate items such as old clothes, old items and things that did not have any use and that students and the public are not in need of them.

All those donations were collected, boxed, liaised with the Pom Gen team for donation.

The students initiation saw the donation of ninety-six (96) bags filled with essential baby items to the nursery aimed  at aiding newborns in need.

The students visited the nursery to personally deliver their thoughtful contributions. Each mother and her baby was  given gifts of a plastic bag teeming with supplies such as diaper, powder, oil, and more.

Among the donations, two bags of clothing were also included, aimed at providing comfort to the mothers themselves.
