Intervarsity Debate Competition

  2023 Intervarsity Debate Competition     Divine Word University, host of the 2023 Intervarsity Debate Competition congratulates the University of Papua New Guinea’s (UPNG) Debate Team on being winners of the 2023 Intervarsity Debate Competition.  University of Technology (UniTech) finished in second place, and in third place, was the host Debate team, Divine Word University. Six universities took part in the three-day event. ‘Developing a safe, innovative and sustainable life towards 2050, in Papua New Guinea’ was the theme for this year’s 2023 Intervarsity Debate Competition from 21st to the 23rd of September. The Debate heats preliminary rounds, semi-final and grand final rounds, topics related to the theme, sparked interesting discussions, showcasing,   impressive research and analytical skills, including confidence and public speaking displayed by the participating university teams.                                                            UPNG Clean Gen Hosts 2023 Orientation Program    The University of Papua New Guinea Clean Generation kick started the one week Orientation Program for the First year students on the 31 st of January, at the Main Lecture Theatre. Clean Generation hosts an Orientation program for the first year students at the beginning of every year. The Voice Inc. (TVI) as the Head Organization runs Clean Generation Movement and that through its partnership with the university, Clean Gen is able to be part of the orientation program. UPNG Students Visit Pom Gen

  UPNG students Visit Pom Gen   Twenty three (23) students from the University of Papua New Guinea Clean Generation voluntarily visited the Ward 3B Children’s and Maternal wards of Port Moresby General Hospital giving donations to mothers and babies. This visit took place in semester one of UPNG’s academic years where the students decided to do a donation drive to the Children’s and Maternal Wards of Pom Gen. An interview with a Clean Gen Member, Mr Nabieu Lansana was conducted. Mr Lansana says that arrangements were made and that over the course of a month, the team put out boxes with in the University residential halls and the public to donate items such as old clothes, old items and things that did not have any use and that students and the public are not in need of them. First Crash Course Thursdays

        Crash Course Thursdays   Clean Gen hosted its first Crash Course Thursdays on  the 1st of June at the Dream Hub. Crash Course Thursdays gives members the opportunity to learn an important skill from a professional in the network. The first crash course was on Public Speaking by Communications & Marketing Manager of The Voice Inc, Mr. Dagia Aka. Nineteen eager participants with a keen interest for public speaking from UPNG, POMIS, our network of Clean Gen alumni, and a few non-members attended the event.  They were taken through important aspects of public speaking and ended the program with a fun activity. "The crash course was a good experience for me. I had never been to one before so it was something new. The course was very educational and fun. Clean Gen Funds a Sanitary Bin Project

  Clean Gen Funds a Sanitary, Health and Hygiene Project   The Voice Inc. (TVI) through the Clean Gen Innovation Grants Program funded a Sanitary Bin Project at the University of Papua New Guinea and is initiated by the 2023 Vice President of UPNG, Miss Gloria Mabiria. Lead by the UPNG Male Vice President of 2022, Mr Hulbert Maleva, the project falls under the grants thematic area of health and wellbeing of Clean Gen. Through the grant funding, the UPNG SRC Project Committee were able to purchase thirty three (33) Wheely Bins, Labels and Bin Bags for this project. The sanitary bins have been installed in the female residential halls on the UPNG Campus. A total grant funding of Ten Thousand Kina (K10 000) was awarded for this project.
